It's May 25th 2019 & Bournemouth Square is alive with the all consuming energy of Africa- courtesy of Umoja Arts Network, who work to raise the profile of African and Caribbean Arts & Culture in Bournemouth, Poole & surrounding areas.

A diverse range of spoken word, dance, workshops, musical performances, along with tempting African & Caribbean food, drink & fashion stalls, provide all the ingredients for the perfect Saturday, with people coming together as collective smiles & spirits- drumming, dancing & laughing the day away!

The drums play their thunderous beat, the ominous skies clear, bathing crowds of new found friends in sunshine- a perfect reflection of the atmosphere! In this moment it's not hard to look around & see that community does still exist, that joy does still exist & most of all- that love amongst strangers still exists.

"The true beauty of music is that it connects people"

- Roy Ayers
